What Does Your

Session Feel Like

Every season of family life has moments worth holding onto - whether you’re welcoming a brand-new baby, chasing an energetic toddler, laughing with older kids, or celebrating your connection as a couple.

That’s what I’m here to capture.

With over two decades behind the camera - and a mum’s understanding - I gently guide you through the session so you always feel comfortable, relaxed, and never left wondering what to do.

It’s not stiff posing - just natural direction, simple prompts, and a calm flow that feels easy for everyone (yes, even reluctant partners and wild toddlers).

Whether we’re curled up in your lounge room, wandering through the garden, or barefoot at the beach, your session will feel warm, relaxed, and genuine - a true reflection of your family.

  • I love photographing babies at every stage of the newborn season.

Around 1–3 weeks old, babies are often sleepier and naturally curl into those soft, womb-like positions many parents love.

Between 3–8 weeks, babies tend to be more alert with longer awake periods. This is when their sweet little personalities start to shine - with beautiful eye contact, tiny expressions, and lovely connections with you.

That said, every baby is different. Some younger babies are wide awake. Some older babies sleep beautifully.

If your session happens to fall on a day when your baby is having a growth spurt and wants lots of feeds and cuddles, that’s completely normal. We slow things down, work around it, and follow your baby’s lead.

Beautiful images don’t come from forcing sleep - they come from patience, gentle guidance, and meeting your baby exactly where they are.

  • That’s completely normal.

Newborn sessions are calm, relaxed, and unhurried. We pause for feeds, nappy changes, and cuddles whenever needed.

There’s no expectation for your baby to sleep or “perform” in any particular way. I’ll gently follow your baby’s cues, adapt as we go, and create beautiful images whether your baby is wide awake, sleepy, or somewhere in between.

Some of the most meaningful photographs come from those in-between moments.

  • Oh yes - absolutely.

These sessions are about capturing all of you. Toddlers, older children, and pets are very welcome and encouraged to be part of the experience.

If your toddler usually naps in the late morning or around lunchtime, I’ll often arrive around 10am. We’ll start with sibling and family photos, then once your toddler heads off to bed, we’ll slow things down and focus on baby, mum, and dad.

It’s a gentle, flexible flow that works beautifully for young families.

  • Not at all.

I’ll gently guide you to the best light and the simplest areas of your home. You don’t need a show home - your bedroom or lounge room is perfect.

Some of my favourite sessions have taken place in just one room. It’s amazing what we can create with soft window light and a plain wall.

  • Think soft, simple, and comfortable.

Neutral tones, gentle textures, and clothing without large logos or bold patterns photograph beautifully. Creams, whites, soft greys, warm browns, muted greens, and dusty pastels all work well.

Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable and yourself in. If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help with suggestions before your session.

I’ll also send a simple styling guide once you’re booked to make this part easy.

  • Most newborn sessions run for around 2-3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, settling, and moving at your baby’s pace.

There’s no rushing and no strict clock-watching - we take the time your baby needs.

  • Calm, relaxed, and unhurried.

I’ll gently guide you throughout your session while keeping things natural and pressure-free. You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about what your baby or children are doing – I’ll read the room, find beautiful light, suggest simple prompts, and adapt as we go.

Many of my newborn clients are now teenagers, and it’s been such a joy to watch their families grow and continue photographing their milestones over the years.

  • Timeless, natural, and honest.

I don’t follow trends. I photograph babies today the same way I did twelve years ago - with simple styling, beautiful light, and an emphasis on connection over props or elaborate posing.

I use neutral tones and soft wraps, and keep things minimal so nothing dates your images or distracts from what matters most - your baby, exactly as they are.

Light is everything. I aim to get it right in camera and edit with a gentle, true-to-life approach so your images will still feel beautiful in 10, 50, even 100 years’ time. No gimmicky presets. Just real colours and timeless photographs.

  • Totally normal. And trust me. I’ve seen and lived it all myself :) Kids don’t need to perform for great photos. I work with their energy rather than against it, and some of the best images come from the in-between moments when nobody is trying too hard.

  • Absolutely. I have both lived and professional experience working with neurodivergent children and their families. I approach each session with love, flexibility, patience, and zero judgement. Your child doesn’t need to fit a mould here.
