Your Sydney Newborn & Family Photographer
Hello,
I’m Gemma!
“The days are long, but the years are short.”
You’ve heard it before, but now, you feel it deeply. One moment, you’re tracing tiny fingers… the next, you’re looking
up at a teenager taller than you (ask me how I know!).
These fleeting, messy, beautiful moments deserve to be
held onto.
That’s Where I Come In
I’m Gemma, a Sydney-based newborn and family photographer with over two decades behind the lens, including 15 years specialising in in-home photography across the Sutherland Shire and beyond. My approach is simple: natural, baby-led, and stress-free. No pressure, no stiff posing-just heartfelt, storytelling images that reflect your family as you truly are.
Whether we’re snuggled up at home in the quiet haze of newborn days or sunset at the beach as your little ones run wild, my goal is to capture the love, chaos, and magic of your family’s story.
I was born in the UK, where I studied photography at university and met my husband there; he was studying design. That was, ahem, 26 years ago. I’m still behind the camera, and he’s still designing. Clearly, we’re both in it for the long haul.
When I was 16, my stepdad took me to buy my first camera - a Nikon F5. He adored three things: my mum, photography, and chickens. Our garden (and sometimes our home) was full of both feathers and film. He was the one who encouraged my love of photography, introducing me to the timeless work of Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson. My business logo is a quiet nod to him.
We moved to Australia “just for a year,” but when my husband landed his dream job, Sydney became home. It’s where we’ve raised our two gorgeous boys, and I still pinch myself that this is our life.
I’m an animal lover and a bit of a soft touch. Our family includes two dogs, a cat, a rabbit, and one very persuasive lizard (thanks to my son’s years of begging).
When I’m not photographing your beautiful family, you’ll find me barefoot at the beach with my boys, cuddling my dogs, hiking with friends, or sharing a meal and a cheeky glass of bubbles with the people I love most.
